In the Spring of 1980, The Powell "Brite-Lite" line of decks was given a graphic update: a big triple P logo with a Powell-Peralta logo beneath. The Jay Smith graphic was essentially the new Brite-Lite design with his name splashed over the 3-P logo. Later versions the 3-P was replaced by an iron cross. Jay was a Marina local who embraced the punk scene and was famously known for his super contorted layback grinds. Some called him the "rubberman."

- tails and noses are overrated. Review by Andrew
I have the orange one with Indy 169s, and Bones Rough Riders, with .75" a riser, and a sweet skeleton key lapper.Rating
It's a buttery smooth ride with plenty of room to rock out and tear it up. It feels so solid.
The massive wheelbase makes rock to fakies feel extra good, and the shallow tail makes you feel even closer to being on a surfboard. I think. I'm from Cleveland and I've never surfed. I'm just making things up at this point. Buy this thing.
This thing is before my time, so it's nice to get a feel for what was going on back then.
10/10 (Posted on 6/4/2018)- Jay Smith rocks it Review by George G
Really happy I tried this deck. I really like the tail as it is kinda flat, but it works for me. Still skating over 49 years. I got to met Jay at slalom races a few years back at WLAC, he's very good dude and still stoked on skating. I weigh in at 220 lbs so mounted up with some Trackers and 97a 60mm slimeballs this is a really fun strong old school deck. Feels very good on a bowl and is responsive and quick too.Rating
This is my first P/P deck in a while, but I will be trying some more out, USA made and stout too! But light weight for its size of hard rock maple. (Posted on 7/26/2017)
