Product Review (submitted on April 5, 2022):
I got my first 9.1” Andy flight deck as soon as they came out and to be honest I did not love it. I’m a huge Andy fan so I didn’t really care that it chipped really badly almost immediately and didn’t really feel that great under my feet. Part of that was I was only about a year and a half or two years into returning from a 13 year break.

That being said I’ve got a few more years of skating and here comes the seven ply version of the same board. I typically ride a 8.5 popsicle board so this one was a little bit of a step up. Paradoxically I don’t find the seven ply 9.1 to be that much heavier than I remember the flight deck being. That may had to do with the ace trucks versus the independent trucks I rode back then.

What I can say is the 9.1” board feels great. Andy’s shape skates more like an 8.5”-8.75”. This board seems to be much more resistant to chipping than the flight deck of the same model. However the board does still get banged up more easily than the shop deck I buy from World Conspiracy skate shop in Huntsville Alabama.

I have all five of Andy’s boards including the 8 inch board they’ll probably never make again. And this one is almost certainly my favorite. I can’t wait to shred this board for a long time and hopefully still have it around in 30 years when it will be a classic.

Powell people, y’all need to check out the skate park coming to Huntsville AL. We need y’all to come down and help us really start this new phase of skating in the South East.
