at 50 + yrs of age , I don't have time to experiment on formulas of thane purported to be reliable, in/on the pavement or slide-oriented when I know the best urethane wheels , which are perfect for new or old DH/freeride practitioners & you get much more value from paying approximately $10-$15 per wheel; PowellPeraltaDH is years ahead of other wheel vendors w its/SSF & SSF Pro line. Your sliding & speed will be inline w/ what you envision versus what you will ultimately doubt about your skillgrowth with other wheels.
Any novice ,hoping to pickup how to slide a longboard & has fought w/ other brand wheels - suited for more experienced freeriders- soon learn that this notoriously "hard on wheel integrity" , slower , often 90° slide learnig process phase will reveal this wheel to be one of the few wheels that remain tolerant of the flatspotting, tendencies of novice beginning slides & braking which very often ruin a set of $30-$40 wheels. You pay just a bit more for 3,4 times the life + the core causes these to roll very fast even when you've worn 67mm off a 69mm snake. There is a reason there are all other wheel brands & then there is PowellPeraltaDH wheels.
A learning freerider will be very pleased by the use of an SSF wheel. An old , stoked , exp freerider will just think ," ahhh...that's how to throw a toeside , blunt side standup slide without chatter!.." ;
both type longboarder realize quickly that paying slightly more is worth the quality difference & superior performance of these wheels.
