CAB and Metallica

CAB and the Vans team were invited to go to the Orion Music + More Festival. Metallica headlined event both days. The bassist for Metallica, Rob Trujillo put some time aside to hang out with Steve and Tony Trujillo.

Also, know that Vans will be releasing a collaboration Half-Cab shoe with Metallica this fall!

Steve, Hey hows it going?hoping all is well just wanted to sat thanks for all the influence you gave me aas a kid!Istarted skating at the age of 11 and continued to do so for 7 more yrs.it was a short run but loved every moment of it! u rock man! I would watch all your bones brigade movies w/ lance,tony,mike,and of course u.i bought your boards countinously and broke a few as well.of course from hard skaTING .WATCHING U GAVE ME UNFOUND motivation i could not find any where else.id pretend i was u out there after a skate flick and that gave me lots of confidence. all my skate budies where all white dudes and im a mexican american .I do believe you are as well,so i always thought as a kid,but just that added to the intensity of you influence. just in case you get to read this message ,i never got the chance to see you in person but , wamted to let you know that i have high respects of you to this day.those years where complete fun went many places and met lots of cool people.there where other skaters who i liked as well;Natas, Hosoi,lance,and a few more .they all rocked but you were at the top of my list from the get go!i did have the chance to skate all their boards for style and shape,you were the first board i skated and fell in love imediately.IT WAS HARD ,I FELT LIKE THE S#*T!some kids remember their first bike ,or their first car,even their first kiss,forget all that, for me it was and will always be that (Steve Cabballero board by Powell Peralta!!!im thirty eight now and still here freinds and family take about my skating years and how much i loved it.brings smiles to our faces .thanks bra!you will always maintain a respectfull and much appreciated area in the history of my childhood. were all grown up now , times change,and so do people,but we all hold on to those memorable times in our life when u fell like somebody.would not trade that for anything dude.wish i were still a kid and knew i feel that way forever. iwould have saved that board ,all skuffed and banged up.swear id have it in a nice display case id build my self out of plexy glass or somethig and id hang that bad boy on the wall.well you get the idea bra.its all good.well Steve with all that being said there are no words that can explain the thanks and appreciationi give to you for sticking to your dreams and that love for skating which in time caught up with me and helped me through as a kid!dont know if youll ever even read this letter but as long as i get it out there sure someone will read it somewhere and think twice bout who was one of the raddest,baddest,and toughest street skaters out there when this all got started man.Much love and respect to you,I sure the good lord blessed you continuously and may he comtinue to do so for all times!you deserve it man!thankyou man!!!! so god bless you and those around u and take care bra!
